Enactus SRCC recently collaborated with the production company 'Dramabaaz Co.' for a muppet adaptation of Charles Dicken's 'A Christmas Carol'. The puppeteers currently under the aegis of 'Project Kayakalp' were featured in the main cast of this production.

Project Kayakalp is one of the community outreach projects run by Enactus SRCC which seeks to empower the puppeteers in the Kathputli Colony of Shadipur Depot with a stable and sufficient source of income by identifying and capitalizing on existing markets through diversified contracts, and modernizing their art forms in order to tap newer markets.

The show was performed in 3 different venues from the 24th till the 28th of December with a total of 6 shows being performed. The venues were LTG Auditorium, Mandi House (1 show on the 24th); Epicentre, Gurgaon (2 shows on the 25th); Alliance Francaise, Lodhi Estate (1 show on the 26th and 2 shows on the 27th).

Marketing of the shows was done extensively by Dramabaaz Co. and Enactus SRCC.

The 'Christmas Carol' was a Hinglish play of about 80 minutes.  It was a new version of the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man, who is paid a visit on Christmas Eve by the ghost of his former dead partner, Jacob Marley, warning him to mend his selfish ways. Celebrating the spirit of Christmas, the musical extravaganza was full of song and dance. It was a perfect mixture of humor with a touch of spook. The catchy songs, superb lights and brilliant story were a treat for both the children and the adults. By the end of the show, everyone was humming the catchy song, ‘scrooge, scrooge, scrooge’.

Approximately 810 tickets were sold over the span of four days. Tickets were sold both, online and on the spot. Member of Enactus SRCC were present on all four days and handled most of the marketing, ticketing and ushering.

The collaboration of the string puppeteers with Dramabaaz Co. has allowed them to broaden their creative and professional horizons, helped them learn a whole new form of puppetry and also given them the experience of performing in a large scale theatre production.
