The DU MUN crisis summit 2013 promised to be a challenge as there was a lot of crises to think on and debate in a never-seen-before and one of its kinds MUN conference organised in DU from March 10 to 13!

Conceived and executed under the aegis of the convener Ms Sonia sareen, the secretary general, Hisham ahmed rizvi (CBS) and a pan of DU organizing team, the event saw heated preparations starting out at least 3 months in advance. 2 rounds of delegate applications, selections for executive board members, orientation sessions and weeks of pre event announcements later, finally, the event started off with a bang on Sunday, March 10, 2013.

After the release of the crisis dossiers, Day 1 saw the official commencement of the MUN with an opening introduction and formal beginnings of all the 6 crises committees which were as follows:

UN Security Council 
Israeli War Cabinet 
Palestinian War Cabinet 
UN General Assembly Emergency Special Session
UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination Committee – UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) 
UEFA Champions League 2012-2013 
Research and Analysis Wing of India (R&AW)

With fast paced crises proposed at regular intervals, the 250 delegates were required to think on their feet and propose feasible solutions. Heated discussions, logical debates and innovative solutions formed the core of the conference. Day 2 was announced as the cultural day by the convenors and saw delegates dressed in the official traditional attires of the countries they were representing. With this added touch of colour,

the discussions resumed with renewed vigour and continued till the end of the event after which various honours and recommendations were announced and certificates were handled along with other goodies like t-shirts.

Overall the event came through on everything it promised and much more. Going by the number of congratulatory messages received on the event’s page on FB for their huge success, this MUN has turned a lot of heads and made enthusiasts out of MUN regulars and amateurs alike from schools and colleges all over Delhi.
